The Daily Grind

Mom and dad are adamant that we change our home’s theme this year 2008. They want something rustic and woody. I didn’t get their explanation as to why they want it that way but since they asked me nicely to help them, I acquiesced. Dad is looking at getting teak furniture for the den. I think it is a good decision. Our den looks a bit bleak and the couches lumpy. It will be good if we make the den look brighter. This is the place at home where mom and dad spend their time the most. So might as well go all out in redecorating the room.

Because of the past Holy Week, with most of the relatives at home, our sink in the kitchen got busted. We actually don’t know how it happened. Maybe one of the little cousins did something… Anyway, my dad and I are fixing it. And since we are already changing the pipes, we might as well replace the faucet as well. We might be replacing other things at home so I am staying put and will not be joining some cousins vacationing abroad. It is good to be with the family more than anything else.

Holy Week is a time for the family to gather together and find time to catch up on what is happening to each of us. I went home last Holy Wednesday. I found my uncle and his family already at home. My dad and his siblings have this tradition of walking from our house to Quiapo Church every Good Friday and since my uncle and his family lives in the province, it was tradition that they stay with us until Black Saturday.
