My cousin is an IT guy. When he comes to visit us, we always get into a conversation about what’s the latest in technology these days. The last time he was here, we talked about the latest in laptops and how he came across some used cisco that he can acquire. We also talked about iphones and the newest macbook. There are just to many topics to talk about when we talk.

I love these conversations with him. It not only enhances my knowledge in technology, it also strengthens our bond.

Constant vigilance

Every six months, my cousin checks her insurance policies, making sure every one is still in effect. She’s a bit paranoid for some, I guess, but I find her vigilance comforting. Everyone in her family knows that they have a working insurance policy in effect because she’s there checking it for them. She’s even particular with their car insurance, because as what she’s said, you just never know when an accident will happen. It is better to make sure that everything is in effect as a fall back should things go wrong.

I wish I am that vigilant with my records.

Comfort and luxury

This rich businessman that we know travels in style. He always make sure that there is a limousine waiting for him at the airport. Or if not, there should be a Mercedes Benz with a chauffeur waiting for him. Now, because he will be traveling to another country and will be going from one state to another, he wants a private jet charter at his beck and call. The cost does not matter to him. As long as the comfort in traveling will be afforded to him, then however expensive it will be, it doesn’t matter to him.

If only we can also travel like that, huh?

Extensive traveling

Jenny will be traveling by next month. She’ll be on a business trip to another country and will be there for about a month or so. It will be her fourth this year. She travels extensively so she really needs a sturdy luggage that she can bring with her always. The one that she has is now all worn out and is ready to ‘retire’. So she will be buying one for this next trip of hers. I told her to invest in a luggage set so that she will not have to buy every after her fifth trip.

Trying out diet pills

Been watching a modeling show and it made me think about starting that diet already. I am overweight, I admit as much. Hey, I love to eat. And everyone I know loves to eat as well. So whenever I go out or just stay at home, there will surely be lots of food around.

But since I am not getting any younger, I thought, why not start that diet now? I will consult my nutritionist friend about this and will try diet pills this time around. The last time I went on a strict diet, I just stuck to a diet program while exercising regularly. But now I want to try some diet supplements like diet pills to lose more weight.

A now famous friend

I was reading a magazine when I was shocked to see the face of a long lost friend of mine. Apparently, she is a big person nowadays, quite popular with tv networks here in the country. She’s doing closed captioning and is best known for writing a best selling novel about an abused celebrity in the country. It was a joy actually to read about all her achievements. And how she rose above the challenges that she faced along the way.

Computer upgrade

The computer at home needs a memory upgrade. We’ve been saving so many files in it and have installed various programs that we really need so the memory is already 80% used up. We are worrying it might crash or something and we might lose the files in it.

I am just waiting for my cousin who is an IT guy to check out computer because it might be wiser to buy a new one rather than an upgrade. But if an upgrade is still good, I will save more with it.

Difficult supplier

I was talking to a friend of mine and he was asking me on how to negotiate with a difficult supplier. They were getting items from this supplier for a long time now but the old boss was recently replaced by the son and it has become difficult for them to negotiate with prices now. This is a trusted supplier so they don’t want to just transfer right away. Buying items of value

When I buy something, I make sure that it has a value and will last for a long time. A jewelry is not just an accessory to me but also an investment. Something that I can pass on to the next generation or I can go sell when I get in a tight fix. I don’t buy the latest gadgets but I buy the one that will benefit me the most. I don’t buy the latest in fashion but I go buy clothes that I can wear comfortably and I can wear again and again.

I work hard to earn a living and I am not going to throw away my money on ‘disposable’ items. How about you?
