Family gathering of sorts

Posted under On the road No Comments

It will be a family gathering of sorts for us again this coming All Saints’ Day on November 1. We all gather at the cemetery to remember our loved ones. But this time, I want it to be a bit cheerful. There will be healthy grilling for one. More catching up with the numerous cousins, uncles and aunts that we have. Some board games perhaps. And other things that we can think of.

Myriad of things

Posted under Home living No Comments

My little cousin loves to open my drawers. She is fascinated with the myriad of things that can be found in it. But, of course, there are important things in my drawer that I don’t want my 3-year-old cousin want to get her hands on to. I store my external hard drive there for instance. So now I am looking at an office furniture store so I could buy a standing 3-layers drawer with a lock. I need one so that the little kid won’t get tempted again to open the drawers.

Running a household

Posted under Home living No Comments

Sometimes, I get overwhelmed by the amount I need to come up with to run the household. Meals for the next two weeks, my brother’s allowance, various utility bills, phone bills, cable tv, dsl connection and so much more. This week, I need to check out Grohe faucets as well. There are just so many concerns in running a household. I marvel at the powers of mothers out there.

Higher capacity memory

Posted under Gadgets and technology No Comments

In buying a new CPU for the old desktop, I have one thing that I want to be sure of… a higher capacity computer memory! I need to be able to save some files and install some computer programs that would need a big chunk of the computer’s memory. Like Photoshop for one. Plus the graphics I am using most of the time. Those are big files that would need a higher capacity hard drive for sure.

Heated discussion

Posted under Health and fitness No Comments

I happen to hear my sister and her best friend talking about something seemingly important. I thought they were arguing about whatever it is. They were in a heated discussion about something. I was so curious as to what it was they were talking about that I went near them. Then I realized what is was… it was all about a female fat burner! Losing weight and being fit using the natural method (regular exercise and discretionary diet) versus the use of diet pills and undergoing surgery. And here I thought they were discussing the national debt!

Bookworm talks

Posted under Home living No Comments

If there is one addiction that I have, it’s buying books. I love getting the books that I find interesting. Sometimes, I read the ebook version already but then I’d still buy the paperback version. There is just something great holding and smelling a paperback, don’t you think? Bookworms like me would know what I am talking about. Now, I am waiting for the orders I made from Amazon books. Can’t wait to hold the books I ordered!

New watch for dad

Posted under Shopping and fashion No Comments

I will definitely give my dad a brand new watch this coming Christmas. The last one we gave him was a couple of years ago, a watch that he really loves. But the glass of the watch is already chipped and the color already fading. We will buy him a new one, and we are looking at Seiko watches, possibly from the same brand but the style will be more modern.

Fight the bulge

Posted under Health and fitness No Comments

One of the top problems of both men and women is obesity. It is hard to lose weight. I should know because I am one of the many people out there who is fighting the big bulge. I hated being fat but there is just no way for me to be successful in weight loss because being fat is in my genes. I have tried again and again to fight the big fight but I always end up gaining all those pounds lost in the end. Sigh.

Good for nothing agent

Posted under Financial matters No Comments

When I heard that a relative of mine is asking for a term life insurance quote from my old insurance agent. Good thing I heard about it right away. I told him not to deal with the guy anymore. I have dealt with him before and when I thought that my whole policy was already in place, I was advised by the insurance firm that the agent used missing receipts and actually was not remitting my payments! The nerve of the guy! It was really a good thing I was able to talk to my relative before he could have given that agent some money already.
