Gas Lamp

You don’t see this anymore in houses around the country. A gas lamp. This was taken in an old house in the province. I think one of the reasons why the gas lamp was no longer in use, aside from the fact that electric lights are more common now, is that is caused so many fires in the past. If you knock one while it is lighted, expect fire to start.

A gas lamp is now used more often as a decor.

Fear of an earthquake

City Life / Comments Off

If you’ve been watching the news about what’s happening around the world, you are surely as scared as I am. Scared of earthquakes for one! It’s been happening in different cities and it could happen to the city you are living in. I’m a city girl so you can see where the fear is coming from.

I keep on praying that nature will take pity on us. I hope that there will be no more disasters to happen anywhere in the world. And I am praying that there will be more people who will be rescued in the rubbles left by the earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Love-hate with Allen

I used to have this classmate in grade school until first year high named Allen. He was a big bully! We had this love-hate relationship ever since we saw each other on the school grounds.

I remember we used to fight a lot. Normal quarreling between kids. And then come school dismissal, he would tell his dad about me and his dad would invite me over to play with him. I always said yes. Then in freshman high, we had this huge fight where I punched him a couple of times with a ballpen. It was not a proud moment for me but one where I felt justified because he teased me mercilessly and called me a bad name. I remember it clearly that when we went to the guidance counselor’s office, his dad was already there. He scolded his son for fighting with me, the same he always did when we were still kids. I was ashamed of what I did. His dad, instead of being angry with me, said sorry for what his son did.

I saw Allen after college graduation. He was taller, thinner, and a family man already. He was the one who saw me first and greeted me. It was like seeing an old friend and we talked for a while. He probably still remembers the silliness that we were back then. But it was with a smile now whenever we remember it for sure.

I must!

I must drink my daily multivitamin. I must! Did you know I got sick with flu a few weeks ago? I was down with it for more than a week! And then I got sick with nasty bouts of cough and cold. When I got well, after a few days, there was a return bout of the nasty cough!

So now I realized that I must drink my multivitamins. If not, I will remain as easily prone to being sick as I was a few weeks ago. I can’t afford that anymore.

Everything well and good

Jonas is my next-door neighbor. We both live in this apartment duplex for the past three years. The first time I met him, about a month after I moved in, he looked sickly to me. But just last weekend, I saw him and was immediately struck by how well and good he looks now. He is healthy and you can see it right off!

He told me that he’s taking different vitamins not only for his body but also vitamins for acne. I remember he used to have that but now he has a clean face. He must be doing really well with those vitamins if he can transform from being sickly looking to this healthy-as-a-horse guy!

Dreaming of a new home, too.

One of my online friends moved to a new home. She is documenting the different phases of their move. From open house viewing to the neighbor-welcoming dinner, it is all documented in her Facebook account.

I have something to say about it… I am happy for her and envious at the same time! I already loved her old place. It may be small but I love how cozy it was. And it’s within a vicinity full of places to eat! When I saw her new place via the photos she posted in her account, I also fell in love with it right away! The wide windows and the high ceiling. The natural light coming in the house via the glass windows and doors. The spacious rooms…

I am envious because I want the same thing for me and my family. A new house with enough rooms for everyone.

My auntie’s well-being

My auntie Cely takes one a day vitamins religiously. She’s rarely gets sick. She has enough energy to do everything she needs to do daily, even for someone her age. She attributes her well-being to the vitamins she takes daily.

I told my dad about it. I know for a fact that he can be the same. Full of energy, healthy and always on the go. He can do so much more if he rarely gets sick also. Sure, he is well but as I’ve said, he can be so much better if he only takes vitamins daily like auntie.

Scared of colon problems

The colon cleanser stuff I’ve been hearing about from those I personally know is making me think about getting the same from my dad. We all know how men are more susceptible to colon problems. I don’t want that to happen to him.

Truth is I am scared of colon cancer. I am scared because we all saw people who got sick of the same cancer and we know how much they suffered. Of course I don’t want that ever to happen to my dad, especially now that he’s the only parent we have.

Backpacking trip

Heather and Denise are adamant they get the best acne treatments as soon as possible. Both women are about to embark on a 6-country backpacking trip. They are hoping to meet some hot guys along the way. How can they face them properly if their faces are filled with acne?!?

They are not going to allow anything to distract them from having fun in their trip. Not even their acne! So they will do something about it now rather than have to worry about it later.

New desk for home-office

flair-computer-desk

I am looking for a new desk for my home office. Possibly like the photo above. It must be a space saver. It must have enough room for a desktop and a laptop plus some knick-knacks. It has to have a place for the CPU tower and a new printer.

I easily get sick of things around me. The computer tower I am using is still in very good condition. But I don’t know if you can understand this feeling of wanting to get rid of it and use a new one, possibly something entirely different. I am not happy with the desk anymore and the angle of it in my corner. I want something new!

I just wish the desk I can find is something I can afford.
