Traveling and me

By Bebe on July 25th, 2010

Going on a tripGoing on a trip is special to me. I have been a traveler at heart but because of limited resources, I can only travel so much.

Whenever I am presented with an opportunity to travel, I grab that chance. I know that another chance like that won’t present itself to me again. And you know what? I don’t dream big of going to exotic places or going on lavish tours. I just love going to places I know I can also bring my family to. Places where there are good tourist spots to go to while still having the amenities of a big city.

I told myself that as soon as my brother finishes college, I will plan a really good trip for the whole family. And then another one for me alone. I am not getting any younger. I also want to be able to experience traveling alone.

Palawan

Palawan

Palawan is one of the places in the country that I’ve always wanted to visit. It is a glorious place surrounded by clear water. You have a choice of so many resorts in the province, ranging from the affordable to the ridiculously expensive (like the El Nido Resort).

In Palawan, one can also visit the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park famed for being one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.

One of these days I will find the time and resources to visit Palawan. Soon.

Next stop: Boracay beach!

My cousins, my sisters and I are all planning to hit the beaches of Boracay by January next year. My cousin is working abroad and his next vacation is by January, so as early as today, we are already planning our trip to Boracay for some summer fun.

It was my sister’s idea to go there. We were all thinking of Puerto Galera but then we all said yes to my sister when she suggested Bora. It would be loads of fun for sure! Can’t wait!

Weekend in the City of Pines

ChocolatedeBatirol

I went to Baguio City with my friends. It was a 3-day out of town fun. I like the places we went to. I particularly like Choco-late de Batirol, a place well-known for its hot choco and delicious bibingka. We went there for snacks on our second day of stay in the City of Pines. I fell in love with the nutty taste of the traditional choco blend that they are offering for a very affordable price. You also have a choice of cinnamon and other choco blends there if you don’t like the nutty taste of the traditional one.

We went to different places more and I will post photos when I finish uploading it.

Bahay kubo

By Bebe on January 17th, 2010

kubo

You don’t see this in the city. A bahay kubo. It is usually made of dried leaves but this one is made of stone. I love seeing a house like this because it makes me feel so far away from the city. I go away from the city when I need peace and quiet. What’s more peaceful than seeing something like this while you are out on a walk, right?

Weekend away from the city

footstep
The city’s trying to tell me that I need to go and explore the neighboring countryside. Again.

I haven’t been an outdoors-y person. I am more of the home-on-weekends type of person, with too much reading and watching tv on the side. But from time to time, I feel this overwhelming need to get away from the city. Like today. But since I can’t give in to the need today, I will do it this coming weekend. *keeping my fingers crossed

I am already thinking where best to go. To the beach or to the serene park…

Off I go…

This big city girl will be off for some overnight R&R. I do believe I deserve it :)

Happy Sunday everyone!

1 Off-the-Radar Honeymoon Destinations

By Bebe on November 28th, 2007

Planning a honeymoon abroad can be a headache. There are so many decisions to be made, not the least of which is where to go. Whatever your priorities — rest and rejuvenation, sightseeing, adventure — there’s a destination that fits the bill. Here are a few of our favorite (and not your typical) romance-ready spots around the globe.

France: Loire Valley Love-In

Loire Valley Love-InSample Itinerary (Bordeaux, Dordogne and Perigord)

Start in France’s Loire Valley, where you can spend several days oooohing and aahhhhing over the region’s glamorous chateaux, including Chambord and Chenonceau. Move on to Bordeaux; St-Émilion is everything you’d want a wine town to be, with ramparts and medieval streets, and plenty of vin. Finally, savor the culinary specialties of Dordogne and Perigord. Lunch on the sky-high dining terrace of Rocamadour’s Chateau de la Treyne is unforgettable.

Check-in for Romance: Chateau de Noizay, Le Moulin de l’Abbaye, L’Hostellerie de Plaisance

Honeymoon Highlight: A walk through the narrow streets of the village of Brantome followed by a picnic on the banks of the River Dronne.
